Field Action Projects

Institution had continued to conduct the field action projects both as services to the society in response to the emerging needs and also to provide students valuable learning opportunities in the field.

Family counselling center (FCC)

Family Counseling Centre aims at strengthening individuals and their relationship with others, through understanding, collaboration, facilitating positive changes, providing comprehensive education, referral and counseling services. It is a counseling center that provides counseling services to deal with family and marital issues. Along with this supportive services like legal aid, referral services to shelter homes, etc. are provided. 

Type of Problems Referred : Cases of Domestic Violence, Dowry Demand, Addiction, Unemployment, Second Marriage etc. were referred from Police Department, Advocates, Previous Clients and Student Social Workers.

Outreach Activity of Family Counseling Center : Following outreach activities were undertaken by Family Counseling Center. FCC tried to reach the grass roots as well as middle class of the society by displaying information about FCC in the public places such as Police Station, Ladies Shoppe, Grocery Shops, Collage, Anganwadi, Kasturba Vasahat, Beauty Parlor, Balgruha, Karvenagar, sadashiv Peth, Maratha Mahila Mandal, Khed-Shivapur etc.

Pre-Marriage Education Programme (PME) : This year Five PME Programmes were conducted in collaboration with ‘Rotary Club of Poona West’. ​These were at :

  1. Guruvarya Dadoji Konddev Shala, Khed-Shivapur, Pune.

  2. Chatrapati Shivaji Vidyalay, Paud Road, Pune.

  3. Pune Zila Shikshan Mandal, Mamasaheb Mohol Mahavidyalay, Paud Road, Pune.

  4. Pune Zila Shikshan Mandal, New English School, Ghotawade Gaon, Pune.

  5. Pune Zila Shikshan Mandal, Mamasaheb Mohol Mahavidyalay, Paud Road, Pune.Legal Awareness Programme : This year Eight Legal

 

Awareness Programmes were conducted at :

  1. Pandavnagar Vadar Vasti, Pune.

  2. Dandekar Pul. Pune.

  3. Bahujan Hitay, Dapodi.

  4. Vishrantwadi, Bhavaninagar, Pune.

  5. FPAI Workers, Karve Road, Pune.

  6. Ambedkar Vasahat, Market Yard, Pune.

  7. Panmala, Dandekar Pul. Pune.

  8. S.R.A. Vasahat, Dandekar Pul. Pune.

C-DATS (Centre for Development of Appropriate Trade Skills)

The Karve Institute of Social Service was continued efforts were made for the grant of Maharashtra Technical Board for the course the Fashion Designing and Gardener Training Course for womens and we received the grant for the same.

The various educational Institutes from the vicinity of Pune and a few other organistion/offices have been giving their binding orders to the center since the last few years.

B. D. KARVE RESEARCH & CONSULTANCY CELL

NGO Resource Center and Students Development Programme by Tech Mahindra Foundation

NGO Resource Center of Karve Institute of Social Service supported by Tech Mahindra Foundation has inaugurated by Dr. Loveleen Kacker CEO Tech Mahindra Foundation and Ex. IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre.

 

NGOs are engaged in a large number of sectors. In Pune more than 4000 NGO’s are registered and they are working for the social development. The NGO centre will be one of the light houses for such kind of NGO’s by way of developing their skill.

 

To achieve its goals effectively, efficient governance and management and capable staff are required by NGO’s. The capacity building of the governing board and staff is indispensable in the current scenario of NGO’s. Resource Center will be working for capacity strengthening unit for NGOs in collaboration with Tech. Mahindra and Karve Institute of Social Service, Pune.

Objectives of NGO Resource Center

  1. To identify the training needs of the NGO’s and social work practitioners working in different sectors and accordingly design the demand responsive short courses for the practitioners.

  2. To design and develop the training module for the NGO’s professional and Para Professional team

  3. To conduct a series of training programs as per the identified training needs

  4. To provide a platform for the NGO’s  to interact, share, analyze their experiences in the field

  5. To design and conduct various short term courses which cater to the needs of NGO’s

  6. Networking and resource mobilization events

  7. To develop a support resource centre where relevant data base will be made available to NGO’s to refer for planning strategies

  8. Policy analysis and national, state local level budget analysis documents would be made available for advocacy for the rights of marginalized groups

  9. To provide research support for enhancing projects and schemes of NGO’s

  10. Provide consultation for young professionals who wish to develop innovative projects in the development sector.
