Mr. G. N. Harshe (1964 to 1973
Mr. G. N. Harshe - Is a founder member of the Karve institute of social service and first director also.
The institute didn't have place to start the institute and In that crucial initial phase the Karve Institute was started in Gandhi Bhavan Campus. At that time Mr. G. N Harshe was working in the Department of Social welfare. He was known for his passion and vision for social work education. In 1964 he joined as a full time Director of Karve institute. He started to communicate the spreading importance of MSW education to society. Because of his taken efforts the people are not only attracted towards MSW, they chose it as a profession.

Smt. Tara Shatri (1974-1978)
Mrs. Tara Shatri was the founder of the Karve Institute of Social Survey. She has always strived for the visibility of the MSW business in the community. Prior to that, Diploma in Social Work (DSW) was only a 1-year diploma course for choosing this profession. She was started 2 Years Post Graduate education in SW with the help of Pune University (MSW). The Karve Institute will always grateful for her work.

Smt. Mandakini Talpallikar (1978-1980)
She was expert and follower of Gandhian Thoughts. In her directorship she was introduce Gandhian studies and social work an additional course.

Mr. Ram Belawadi (1983-1986)
He was retired as Director General of Police in Prisoners department and He was joined as Director Karve Institute. He was strict, dashing, visionary officer of his department. The perisoner can change He belived if we give the change to prisoners to change thay can come forward as good humen being. on this thought he was introduce correctional Social work to the filed.
